I had never touched a drug or abusable prescription medication until the first time I went to a psychiatrist in Tokyo in 2018, and proceeded to be prescribed alprazolam - branded Solanax by Pfizer in Japan but more commonly known under the American brand name Xanax.

After a life with anxiety I was hooked immediately - however, despite knowing I was prone to addiction - it still happened. I would renew the prescription for months until something in me told me to stop. The desire to pick it up would only grow from there on out and it drove me to explore deeper into the world of medication and drugs.

The prescription marks the start of a downward spiral, hitting rock bottom repeatedly, only to find out it can get worse - eventually leading to time in jail in Japan, deportation and a life time ban. A loss of friends, family and home.

The blanket is a recreation of the real first prescription coupled with a quote by Future that always strongly resonated with me and my feelings regarding this medication: As for the xanny… I never forgot it.
